These ideas have been the recipe for our success since our founders Carl and Anna Litschgi decided to rent out a small corner store at Goodman & Savannah Ave and start North College Hill’s first bakery in 1933.

Our Story

Carl and Anna Litschgi opened the bakery in 1933. Business boomed and in a few years’ time they were able to expand to our current 1807 West Galbraith location. Carl and Anna continued to run the bakery until 1962, except for a brief stint in the 50’s where it was leased out to Matt Perkins, who went on to start Perkins restaurant. The bakery changed hands once more in 1967 when the Litschgi’s sold it to their youngest daughter, Charlene Weitzel, and her husband, Gary.  Since then we’ve upgraded equipment, switched buildings, added a few more employees and started supplying our great baked goods to many of the local meat markets for your convenience.  All while still striving to keep it simple and delicious. Charlene and Gary worked together for over 50 years, with as much energy and zest as the day they bought it. Then they decided it was time for a new chapter in their lives. Charlene and Gary wanted to spend more time with their children, grandchildren and their family farm and sold the bakery to Matthew and Terry Patrick in 2018. Matthew and Terry are dedicated to carrying on the traditions of North College Hill Bakery - traditions of importance to the previous owners, the loyal customers, the neighborhood and Cincinnati.
